Ex-Corrie icon Eve Steele beats drink and drug addiction that

Coronation Street actress Eve Steele has opened up about her lifelong struggles with addiction that started with her drinking from the age of 10.

The actress, who played supermarket Anne Malone from 1995 – 1998, revealed that she had turned to drugs by the time she was 12 and had developed a heroin addiction so severe she had ‘accepted that it would kill her’ by age 20.

Thankfully, she decided to turn her life around, and the 48-year-old has now been working on her sobriety for the best part of 30 years, beating her demons and coming out on top.

‘I’d heard alcohol made people sleepy so I started sneaking downstairs at night and having a couple of big glasses of our home brew,’ Eve explained of the start of her career.
